Brookgate has invited artist Gavin Turk to create the sculpture that will become the centrepiece in Station Square.
Turk is an award-winning pioneer of British contemporary sculpture. Best known for his painted bronzes and wrapped objects, he creates provocative, inspiring work that’s far from conventional. His work has been exhibited on the streets and in galleries all over the world from London to New York and from Paris to Vienna.
Sven Topel, Chief Executive at Brookgate said: “We believe that artists like Gavin Turk can help make CB1 truly special, helping us develop a space that’s distinctive, creative and inspiring.”
Turk’s iconic public sculptures include a waxwork of himself as a tramp, a 12-metre rusty nail, and bronze casts of a bin bag and a sleeping bag that are painted to look real. Few people know what Turk is creating for Station Square but all will be revealed at the sculpture’s unveiling when the square and neighbouring residential buildings are complete.
